Lansing, Mich. – Michigan Health Council (MHC) announced that due to ongoing deliberation over the State's FY 2019-20 budget, the previously announced July application cycle has been suspended. We will share more information regarding the Michigan Loan Reimbursement and Employment Solution (MiLES) and the next potential application period once the State budget has been finalized and approved.
During the first application window in February, six MD physicians and two DO physicians were awarded a combined $400,000 in tax-free loan reimbursement.
MiLES offers $50,000 in tax-free loan repayment to physicians residents during their residency in exchange for a 2-year post-residency service commitment in a medically underserved area of Michigan.
MiLES is funded by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and administered by the Michigan Health Council. The Michigan Health Council is a Michigan-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring every person has access to the right team of health care professionals to meet their health needs. Their mission is to create products and provide services their partners rely on to build health care workforce capacity. www.mhc.org.
